EINLADUNG ZUR VORLESUNGSREIHE:
„The history of theater and contemporary Croatian theater”
The most fruit-bearing type of "commedia erudite" and its variations in the Renaissance Dubrovnik make an interesting example in the history of Croatian theater. I will present comedy and pastoral work of Marin Držić and poetic techniques which bring this theater closer to the Italian Plautus comedy. Then, we will analyze the possibilities of reading of Dubrovnik in everyday life in Držić's comedy works. The librettist drama of the 17th century Dubrovnik constitues a specific theatrical phenomenon. Thematic aspects of this type of theater are interesting in regard to the reading of potential ideologicity of text. In view of contemporary theater, I will present exemplary plays from the repertoire of satirical theater, presented at the "Days of Satire" event in Zagreb, in the period from 2010 to 2014. Stage performances will be analyzed in terms of dramaturgical procedures in staging of dramatic templates, as well as in regard to the issue of thematization of reality.
