Language proficiency tests

In the course of language training, you also have to take two language proficiency exams: one in the Bachelor's program and one in the Master's program. SBP 1 tests the achievement of level B1 according to the CEFR, SBP 2 tests the achievement of level C1 according to the CEFR.

Language proficiency examinations are subject examinations that are held independently of courses. They test whether students have acquired the language skills required to attend the next level of education or to complete their studies. Productive skills (writing, dialogic and monologic speaking) and receptive skills (listening and reading comprehension) are tested, as well as, to a certain extent, meta-linguistic knowledge, i.e. knowledge of the language.

Each language proficiency test consists of a written and an oral part. To receive a positive overall grade, both parts of an exam must be assessed positively.

The SBP 1 is taken after completion of the 2b courses (i.e. after completion of the second year of learning) of the chosen language; if it is passed, this entitles the student to progress to course 3a.

The SBP 1 tests the achievement of level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This exam must also be taken by native speakers and those who begin their studies at the Institute of Slavonic Studies with the 3a or higher course (e.g. exchange students or those who have already taken equivalent exams at another institute such as the ITAT).

The SBP 2 is held after the completion of the Master's language courses; it is a prerequisite for the positive completion of the Master's or teacher training course.

The SBP 2 tests the achievement of level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
