150 years of Slavic studies at the University of Graz
Information on our anniversary: 150 years of Slavic Studies
In 2020/21, our department celebrated 150 years of Slavic Studies at the University of Graz. Unfortunately, face-to-face events were not possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is why the joint celebration '150 Years of Slavic Studies - 50 Years of Southeast European History' ultimately had to be canceled. Nevertheless, a number of projects could be carried out in online format, including the 30th The Slovenian Congress of Slavists on 'Slovenian Language and Literature in Central Europe' in October 2020, the INTERSLAVIC conference on 'Internationalisms in Slavic Language as a Window into the Architecture of Grammar' in February 2021, the conference 'Slavistik Aktuell: Memory, Hybridization and Transfer Processes in Slavic Languages, Literatures and Cultures' in June 2021, and the virtual exhibition 'All you need is SLAV'.
30th Slovenski slavistični kongres/Slovenian Congress of Slavists: Graz - Maribor, 1-2 and 8-9 October 2020
Slovenian Congress of Slavists 2020 on Slovenian Language and Literature in Central Europe, which was originally scheduled to take place in Graz and Maribor, will be held online due to Covid-19 on October 1 and 2 as well as on October 8 and 9, 2020 from 15:00 to 19:00. The congress language is Slovenian.
Participation is free of charge for guests and students, provided they indicate this on the registration form. The registration deadline is September 25, 2020. Participants will receive the Zoom link on September 30, one day before the start of the congress, which they can use to log in half an hour before the start of the program (from 14:30) on each of the 4 congress days. To avoid technical complications, you should log in by 14:50 at the latest.
If the epidemiological situation in Austria and Slovenia allows it, a full-day excursion to the Radkersburger Winkel (Laafeld/Potrna, Bad Radkersburg/Radgona, Sicheldorf/ Žetinci) on October 3 and a guided cultural-historical tour of Graz on October 10 are on the program.

To the exhibition:
The posters were created by Adnan Devežić, Šeherzada Merušić, Ana Marija Mihaljević, Tamara Rabuzin, Bianca Sieberer, Jelena Simić, Asmaa Soliman and Omina Tarboush under the supervision of Claudia Mayr-Veselinović and with the assistance of Roman Klug as technical advisor as part of a course. They provide insights into the past and present of the Institute of Slavic Studies and provide information about the many points of contact between Graz and the Slavic world.
